I learned early on that setting a table is so much more than just laying down knives and forks. It is creating a setting for food and conversation, setting a mood and an aura that lingers long after what was served and who said what was forgotten.

I so enjoyed sharing a simple meal with my family last night. We laughed, bantered, listened and lingered over empty dishes to savor the real flavor of friendship and love. My heart was satisfied and filled as well as my stomach. The perfect meal.

That's funny! Because just yesterday, as I was setting the table for dinner I was thinking of you...how you will pull out your different beautiful plates, and how you make sure it's set with the silver ware in the right place...I decided, from then on, to take more care for my little family, because I think it really makes a difference! You are such a great example in so many ways ;)
ReplyDeletelast night i was debating whether or not to set the table and sit down with the family or just feed the kids up at the bar. carter did a nice job setting the table and we had a yummy meal, but more importantly we enjoyed quality time together which wouldn't have happened unless we had made the effort.
ReplyDeletejoe was always one who preferred to set the table rather than eat at the counter...and light a candle or two as well. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI learned that setting the table was important, too. It creates an orderly atmosphere and invites candlelight and better manners. I also thing the food tastes better when the table is set. My cute hubby had no idea what it meant to set the table when we got married. It was my first "yikes" moment of marriage.
